ICP Networks joined Manchester City on the tee to raise vital funds for their community foundation CITC.

The networking and IT specialists are a long-term partner of City In The Community, the charitable arm of Manchester City FC,

City in the Community’s second annual golf day, Blues on the Green, took place at Mottram Hall earlier this month, in glorious September Sunshine.

It was the second year ICP Networks supported the CITC’s golf day though local course knowledge did not exactly help the IT supplier despite a brave showing from our four ball led by Managing Director Matt Archer.

Matt explained: “It is a fantastic event and we were blessed with stunning weather this year compared to the inaugural event last year which was held a month later in October when it was freezing and pretty wet!

“I’d like to say the summer like conditions inspired us to victory….it certainly inspired us and as they say charity was the clear winner whilst we were somewhat lacking, but by no means embarrassed only narrowly missing out on a top three finish!

“It was superbly run and the CITC staff and team at Mottram Golf Course should be rightly proud of the day which was supported by more businesses than ever and able to raise more money than ever before for a wonderful charity.”

Legends

Former Manchester City legends Alex Williams, Joe Corrigan, Gary Owen, Ian Mellor, Andy Dibble, Jim Melrose, Kenny Clements and Stan Horne to compete to be this year’s winners of the four ball competition.

ICP Networks joined forces with a number of other CITC supporters including the main event partner, Sytner Rolls Royce Manchester who provided women’s professional golfer Charlotte Wild for the beat the pro competition.

Members of each four ball team were invited to take on the pro on the par 3 11th hole at Mottram with a prize on offer for any golfer who landed on the green and closer to the pin than Charlotte.

Sytner also displayed a stunning collection of cars from Bentley, McLaren and Rolls Royce.

Shotgun

The golfers enjoyed a shotgun start 18 hole tournament and thankfully for ICP Networks – given we started at the 14th tee and furthest from the clubhouse – the groups were given buggies before enjoying an evening meal and charity auction in the St Andrews Suite for the evening meal and charity auction.

Aguero

Manchester City’s Managing Director of City Football Services Brian Marwood and Managing Director Tom Glick then participated in a special Q&A session for guests before a charity auction raised additional funds for CITC – including ICP Network’s capture of a signed boot from star striker Sergio Aguero.

Matt added: “As well as an opportunity to play golf at an excellent course and support CITC the Blues On The Green event allows businesses the opportunity to meet one another and interact with executives from the club and charity. Listening to Brian and Tom speak was fascinating and the event was a fantastic success for everyone involved.”

The golf competition was won by Suregroup, with MM All-stars finishing second and Atrium Legal third. The wooden spoon went to the City in the Community Team with spot prizes were won by Ian Cherry and Matthew Buck on the 3rd and 16th hole nearest the pins, with Phil Hudson hitting the longest drive on the 18th.

Success

City in the Community Ambassador Alex Williams described the day as “Another great success for the charity foundation. We have raised a lot of money for the foundation that will positively impact on the lives of our participants and programmes. The weather was glorious and everyone had a fantastic day on and off the course.”
