The Guardian Feature Greenest IT HQ in Britain

ICP Networks buy and sell new and refurbished IT equipment. Their HQ, dubbed the greenest in Britain is featured by The Guardian

ICP Networks are making national headlines again – as The Guardian newspaper report on the Greenest IT HQ in Britain.

The Cheshire based IT business have created quite a stir since moving into their new headquarters thanks to its innovative design features and eco-friendly construction techniques.

ICP Networks designed their new global HQ from the ground up ensuring that the building considered the environment, and the business impact on it, at every stage.

The design included a 50kWp solar panel system, the largest in the North West, a ventilation recover system, Planitherm Argo Super Thermal glass, modern light fittings and heaters linked to modern sensors.

ICP Networks efforts have resulted in an instant reward with Lexicon House generating almost THREE times more energy than they actually require – with energy supplier E-On having already paid around £6,000 for the excess energy sold back into the grid.

Save Money

“We are incredibly proud of what we have created here at ICP Networks and we are honoured to be able to share some of that experience and help other businesses take similar steps to consider the environment, and crucially save money,” explained Matt Archer, MD of ICP Networks.

“We were contacted by The Guardian who asked if we would allow them to feature our story and describe the steps that we had taken and of course we were delighted.

“It is especially pleasing for us as we project managed the build of Lexicon House internally, we did not out source the project though we did take advice and carefully selected our building partners but myself and Bob Greaves personally oversaw the build.

Impressed

Cheshire East Council were so impressed they nominated us for the LABC Building Awards where Lexicon House made it to the regional finals – with our £1 million project competing alongside major developments that cost many tens of millions of pounds

“We are committed to showing that businesses that it is common sense to consider the environment and that a building like ours makes sound financial sense as the building literally begins to pay for itself.

“The IT industry has quite rightly taken a lot of stick for the damaging impact on the environment but we are proving that it is possible to use technology to turn that attitude on its head and trail a path for every other business to follow.”

The Guardian feature was designed to show other businesses how they too can make money and the environment by following in the footsteps of ICP Networks.
