Data Centre Dash As Cisco UCS Rides The Server Wave

ICP Networks are bracing themselves for an explosion in the UK of Cisco UCS Servers – the future for Cisco cloud servers.

The Cheshire based IT and Networking specialists believe Cisco’s Unified Computing System is THE must have system for British Data Centre’s after witnessing a huge surge in demand, beginning in North America.

ICP Networks have seen nearly a 300% increase in demand for Cisco’s Unified Computing System – or Cisco UCS Servers – over the past 8 months as European business latch onto the trend which has transformed American business.

They believe British businesses are acting now to join the cloud server revolution which will revolutionise the way businesses process, store and share information.

Traditional data store facilities are struggling to cope with the huge surge in demand as employees now attempt to access data from a variety of devices including desktop, laptop and mobile devices.

Cisco UCS system is described as the only ‘self-aware, self-integrating system with the ability to support both blade and rack services in a single unified system’ on the market and the benefits to business have been enormous.

According to Cisco’s own data more than 75% of Fortune 500 companies in the US have turned to Cisco solutions and they claim more than 36,500 businesses have turned to their UCS since its launch five years ago – with more than 23,000 joining in the past two years.

Benefits to UCS Server Customers include:

  • 86% reduction in provisioning times
  • 77% reduction in cabling
  • 74% reduction of ongoing management costs
  • 53% reduction of power and cooling costs
  • 99 world record application performance benchmarks

ICP Networks, MD Archer, said: “The Cisco UCS Server is the future for Data Centre’s, it is the next great wave that they must be on if they are serious about gaining the edge on competitors in their marketplace.

“The numbers tell their own story. The number of business that has turned to Cisco UCS over the past 24 months is quite incredible. In five years Cisco has gone from a not even being in this market to a position by which they dominate it.

“The UCS server is the future. It allows businesses to make huge savings in terms of cabling; management costs and reduces power and cooling costs by more than 50% which is a huge saving.

“The breakthrough in technology and benefits of UCS is a trend that is reminiscent of the introduction of Sun Microsystems Servers (now Oracle) 15 years ago, where we watched what was happening in America and then the rest of the world followed.

“The architecture and upgrade path for expansion for CPU’s, Memory and HDD’s is very familiar in that sense and it very intuitive to clients. Which appears to be evidenced by Cisco’s rapid rise in the market?

Cisco entered the Blade Server Market in 2010 and within five years have gone onto achieve a dominant 42.5% share of the market in North America and a 27.4% share of the global market.

They unveiled the UCS Server in response to demands from businesses and have grown at such a rate by which they totally dominate the market in the States.

Cisco developed the UCS specially to cope with the increasing demands of the internet. They predict that by 2020 there will be fifty billion things connected to the Internet – people, processes, data and things – referred to as ‘The Internet of Everything’.
